Teenager flees from police and causes collision with serious injuries

According to Google News AT — Crime (de), in the night into Saturday shortly after midnight, a 15-year-old Romanian collided with another vehicle while fleeing from a police patrol in Ried im Innkreis. Both cars were thrown into a garden installation.

The teenager had ignored the patrol's stop signals, performed a U-turn, and fled at high speed towards the city centre. During an overtaking manoeuvre, he collided with the car of a 35-year-old man from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who had just begun a left turn. The 35-year-old suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Ried im Innkreis hospital. The 16-year-old passenger in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

In the course of the official proceedings, officers detected symptoms of drug impairment in the 15-year-old, according to the Upper Austrian State Police Directorate. A drug test came back positive for THC, and a clinical examination established that the teenager was unfit to drive.

The 15-year-old is being reported to the state prosecutor and the Ried district authority for the incidents.
