In the early morning of Monday, 1 June, a routine check in Vienna's Floridsdorf district escalated into violence. Officers had visited the flat of a 20-year-old man to collect outstanding fines. When they knocked on the door, the man in question opened it himself.

From the outset, the young man displayed extreme aggression. He refused to cooperate with the official action and ignored repeated requests to produce his identity documents. The flat also contained a 16-year-old girl who attempted to calm the agitated man.

Despite the girl's efforts, the 20-year-old's aggression increased further. He suddenly attacked the officers. Only through the physical intervention of the police could the suspect be provisionally arrested. Investigations are underway against him on suspicion of attempted resistance to state authority.

During the arrest, the 16-year-old girl intervened in the operation and also attacked the police officers. She was also provisionally arrested. Three officers were injured in the incident. Two of them had to be taken to hospital and were unable to continue their duties.
