A 27-year-old man from Villach fell victim to telephone fraud on Friday. An unknown person posed as an employee of a bank emergency hotline.
The caller claimed to have detected suspicious activity on the man's account. To "secure" the account, he demanded the disclosure of personal information over the phone.
The Villach man disclosed the requested information. Subsequently, four withdrawals totalling a four-figure sum were made from his account. Police are now investigating the unknown perpetrator.
