Early on Friday morning, a brutal attack on a 57-year-old man took place in Kurpark Oberlaa in Vienna's tenth district. The man had intervened when four youths stormed a wildlife enclosure and terrorised the animals living there.
Shortly before seven o'clock, the four perpetrators jumped over the fence of the wildlife enclosure on the WIG site on Laaerberger Straße. They chased the frightened animals through the facility. When the 57-year-old attempted to intervene, he was threatened with a blade and struck to the ground with a baton, according to police.
The juvenile attackers managed to escape. The police search has so far been unsuccessful. The victim suffered injuries from the baton attack.
