Drugs and cash seized in Vienna vehicle check
A tip from the public led Vienna police to a suspicious vehicle. Officers stopped the car in the district around Ketzergasse and checked the occupants.
During the check of the 27-year-old driver, officers noticed a strong smell of drugs. The man was then ordered to open the boot. Inside was a vacuum-sealed plastic bag containing a substantial quantity of marijuana – about the size of two shoeboxes.
During the further search, officers discovered a white block and a bag under the police vehicle, which someone had apparently placed there. It was cocaine. Further searches in the car revealed a rucksack containing additional packages of cocaine.
Officers also seized cash totalling approximately 1,400 euros. All four occupants – aged 25, 27, 27 and 30 – were taken into custody. A witness had previously observed what was allegedly an attempted forcible pulling of a teenager into the car. The arrested men denied this. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.
