A former teacher had to face court again on Tuesday in Graz. The magistrate's court imposed a prison sentence of two years and eight months against the man.
The convicted man had impersonated a female person on social networks over an extended period. In this way he gained the trust of male pupils and persuaded them to send him intimate photographs. During a search, 30 storage media were seized from him. An expert found more than 6,000 images and videos with sexual content, predominantly of boys. In some cases, those depicted were allegedly not yet 14 years old.
In the first proceedings, a conviction had already been handed down, but this had to be overturned by the Supreme Court due to a legal error. The court now rejected placement in a forensic therapeutic institution, as the defendant had completed lengthy therapy and had largely confessed. A psychiatric expert witness had diagnosed the man with paedophilia.
