An alleged sex offender has been occupying Vienna's security authorities for some time. In the area around Kahlenberg, Cobenzl and Krapfenwaldl, repeated incidents have occurred in which a male person exposed himself to female passers-by.
According to witness statements, the unknown man initially approaches women in a harmless manner and asks for directions. Shortly thereafter, he is said to remove his clothing and touch himself. Multiple victims reported this pattern consistently.
Online forums have already warned about the suspect. An internet user described encounters at various locations in the Wienerwald, including Kreuzeiche and Hundeparadieswiese. The man is described as approximately 20 years old, slim and 1.80 metres tall. His hair is said to be dark and curly, approximately chin-length. It was repeatedly mentioned that he wears jogging bottoms and speaks German without an accent.
The incidents occurred on weekday mornings according to current knowledge. One woman has already filed a criminal complaint. Because weeks sometimes passed between the known cases, investigators believe that there may be further victims who have not yet come forward.
The Vienna Regional Police Department (LPD Wien) confirmed one of the incidents from late May. A woman with a dog was approached by the man, whereupon he exposed himself. The State Criminal Office, West branch, took over the investigation. The patrol service was informed of the matter and briefed, as press spokesman Philipp Haßlinger explained.
