An Austrian court has sentenced a 21-year-old man to 15 years in prison for planning a terrorist attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna.

A court in Austria has convicted a 21-year-old man who had planned a terrorist attack on a concert by US singer Taylor Swift in Vienna. The convicted man, Beran A., was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
The prosecution presented to the court that the defendant had been in contact with members of the terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS) whilst planning the attack. He had attempted to illegally acquire weapons in the days before the concert. According to BBC News, investigators also suspected the man of preparing a planned terrorist attack in 2024 in Dubai.
At the time of planning the act, the convicted man was 19 years old. He had planned to attack fans gathered at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. Knives or homemade explosive devices were to be used as weapons. During a search of his flat on 7 August 2024, authorities found materials needed for bomb manufacturing.
The case underscores the ongoing threat from terrorist activities in Europe and the importance of preventive measures by security authorities.
