Strache trial begins in Vienna: ex-FPÖ chief in court over insurance affair
The former FPÖ chairman Heinz-Christian Strache faces court again from Wednesday. At the Vienna Regional Court, proceedings begin at 9.30 a.m. in courtroom 212, which could provide insights into the party's financing. The focus is initially on a life insurance policy that was allegedly concluded for Strache using party funds.
The public prosecutor's office accuses the politician of having obtained access to the insurance policy. This is already the third court proceeding against the former party leader. The trial was originally scheduled to begin in March, but was postponed by a week the previous week.
In the same proceedings, the Casinos matter is to be examined later, which concerns a connection to the gambling company Novomatic.
