According to Google News AT — Crime (de), Vienna police arrested two suspected drug dealers at Keplerplatz in Favoriten on the afternoon of 30 August. Officers acted as part of targeted measures against drug trafficking.
At around 4.45 p.m., police officers observed a 31-year-old Algerian man selling two small bags containing approximately 2.4 grammes of marijuana for 20 euros. When arrested, the man attempted to throw away a further bag. A subsequent search revealed ten small bags containing approximately 4.9 grammes of cocaine and 95 euros in cash.
During the police operation, two bystanders filmed the officers and expressed their displeasure. After criminal investigators pointed out possible legal consequences of publishing the recordings, the two individuals left.
About 15 minutes later, at around 5 p.m., the same officers observed a 27-year-old Syrian man who is suspected of selling 1.6 grammes of marijuana for ten euros. He had previously removed the drug from a hiding place located nearby. During the arrest, police secured the depot containing approximately 10.7 grammes of additional marijuana and 205 euros in cash in denominations typical of the drug scene.
Both suspects were issued entry bans for the protected zone at Keplerplatz. On the orders of the Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office, the men were taken into custody at a correctional facility.
