Shot in Vinto: victims give contradictory versions and one wounded man has criminal history
According to reduno.com.bo, three people were wounded by gunfire following an armed attack on a pick-up truck in the Pairumani sector, municipality of Vinto, in Quillacollo. The three wounded are in stable condition, although the Bolivian Police are keeping them under investigation due to inconsistencies detected in their statements.
The police institution is investigating the incident as attempted homicide. The departmental commander Henry Ontiveros identified the vehicle's driver as A. C. G. M., who has a criminal record for money laundering. Preliminary investigations indicate that the four occupants of the pick-up truck were returning from Cochabamba after visiting two brothels.
When collecting statements from those affected, the officers detected serious contradictions regarding the activities they were engaged in before the attack. At the crime scene, three 9-millimetre shell casings were collected and three bullet impacts on the vehicle's bodywork were identified.
The duty doctor at the health centre where they remain hospitalised confirmed that the three patients are stable and under multidisciplinary observation. Health professionals extracted two projectiles: one from the left leg of one of the victims—with muscle and bone damage not requiring surgery—and another from the right forearm of another. Despite being out of danger, the family of the wounded refused to make statements to the media.
Police continue the search and identification of the two attackers who fired on the vehicle. The case was referred to the Public Ministry for the legal conduct of investigations.
