Bolivia and Brazil agree bilateral meeting to combat drugs and organised crime at borders

Bolivia and Brazil strengthen police coordination against organised crime advance
The Minister of Government, Marco Antonio Oviedo, announced on Tuesday a binational meeting with his Brazilian counterpart and the National Commander of the Federal Police of that country, according to El Deber. The objective is to strengthen coordination in intelligence, police systems and operations between both nations.
Oviedo explained that the meeting arises following a previous meeting with the Brazilian ambassador. "We have agreed that we are going to hold a binational meeting between the Minister of Justice and Security, the National Commander of Federal Police," declared the official.
The announcement was made during the presentation of four members of Comando Vermelho, arrested for murder in the department of Beni. Oviedo noted that these arrests are part of a comprehensive plan against organised crime and drug trafficking, an activity that is concentrated with greater intensity in the country's border zones.
"We are already seeing results, you are seeing them," the minister affirmed in reference to the newly arrested individuals.
Oviedo clarified that these processes require time and that results are not always immediate. Bilateral cooperation seeks to strengthen the capacities of both countries to achieve sustainable results in the long term.
