Prosecution seeks to revoke house arrest for Tatiana Marset following breach at Expocruz
The sister of drug trafficker Sebastián Marset was seen at Expocruz despite her nighttime restriction. The Prosecution is seeking her return to Palmasola.
Tatiana Marset could return to Palmasola after violating her house arrest
The Departmental Public Prosecution of Santa Cruz submitted a formal request to revoke the house arrest of Tatiana Marset, sister of Uruguayan drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, according to El Deber. The measure was activated after the investigated party was seen participating in various events at Expocruz, in apparent violation of the conditions imposed by the courts.
The departmental prosecutor Alberto Zeballos stated that the report drawn up by the custodians in charge of monitoring Tatiana indicates that she had breached the obligation to remain at her residence between 20:00 and 06:00. Zeballos confirmed that the report was sent to the corresponding specialised unit, from which the request for revocation was issued.
"The report and proceedings have already been processed and the request for revocation of the precautionary measures has been brought to the attention of the court, after verifying that she breached the obligations imposed by the judicial authority," Zeballos stated. The prosecutor added that it will be the judge who evaluates the situation and decides whether to revoke the current measures or apply other more severe ones, including return to Palmasola prison. "The request is compelling, it is necessary to apply more onerous measures," he maintained.
Tatiana Marset was detained in March along with other foreign nationals in the same operation in which her brother Sebastián was captured. She was placed under investigation for illicit arms trafficking and criminal association, among other charges. On 19 August, she obtained house arrest after meeting the requirements established by the courts.
Tatiana's presence at the Expocruz fairground, where she was photographed and filmed while participating in an auction, generated reactions from the public, who publicly questioned compliance with her precautionary measure. These images were the trigger for the custodians' report and the subsequent prosecution request.
