Former Prosecutor Mariaca detained at Cantumarca under two arrest orders

Former attorney general of the State Róger Mariaca will be held in isolation at Cantumarca penal facility in Potosí, confirmed Monday by the departmental police commander, Franklin Roger Villazón, according to El Deber.

"The protocols and procedures carried out by the prison facility require him to be taken to an acclimatisation area, for which he will be held in isolation for the time prescribed by regulation," Villazón stated.

Mariaca was transferred in the early hours of Monday from El Alto by land, escorted by a "quite large convoy" made up of different police units, according to the commander's clarification.

The detention responds to two judicial orders of a preventive nature for a period of six months. The first was issued for alleged commission of the offences of criminal organisation and trafficking in controlled substances.

The second order was issued for alleged money laundering, following the discovery of Bs 3,532,100 and $us 10,000 inside an ambulance leaving the condominium where Mariaca resided.
