Armed gang kidnaps coca trader in Cochabamba's tropics

A group of between five and six armed men forcibly entered the home of Nelly Rojas Ledezma, a 28-year-old coca trader, in the municipality of Entre Ríos, in the tropics of Cochabamba. According to lapatria.bo, the assailants were carrying long and short firearms, overpowered the woman when she attempted to flee, and placed her inside a white Noah-type vehicle that departed in an unknown direction.

Security cameras at the property and at nearby residences recorded the entire sequence of the operation. Those images were collected by the Special Force to Combat Crime (Felcc) and are currently under analysis by technical personnel.

The family of Rojas Ledezma did not file a formal complaint with the authorities. Nevertheless, the Felcc and the Public Ministry launched an investigation on their own initiative, according to information provided by Unitel, given the seriousness of the incident and the imminent risk to the victim's life.

The director of the Felcc, Colonel Erick Peralta, confirmed the deployment of several police units in the area to locate Rojas Ledezma and identify those responsible. Peralta noted that the victim's husband is not cooperating with investigators nor has he provided information about his wife's state of health.

In the early hours of 9 September, agents gathered information indicating that the abductors contacted the family to demand a ransom of $200,000 in exchange for the woman's release. All evidence obtained at the scene remains under analysis.

The case is generating concern in the Entre Ríos community about security conditions in the region.
