The St. Gallen cantonal police arrested an 18-year-old man from France in Muolen SG overnight on Friday. The suspect had attempted to break into a garage operation.
According to a statement from the authorities on Friday, the young man smashed the pane of a roller door to gain access to the interior. His objective was to steal high-value vehicles.
An alarm system was triggered. The burglar subsequently fled outside, where police were able to apprehend him on site. He was still on the premises when officers arrived.
The public prosecutor's office is leading the investigation. Police are also examining whether the arrested man could be involved in further offences.
