In the early morning of 1 May 2025, several physical attacks on women occurred at Lucerne main railway station. An unknown assailant deliberately pushed against female passengers and struck at them with his elbow.

After committing the attacks in the station area, the assailant made his way to platform 14. Shortly before 9.45 a.m., he boarded a line 5 commuter train heading to Giswil. During the journey as well, he continued his aggressive behaviour and attacked more women.

The Lucerne cantonal police managed to identify the alleged perpetrator and take him into custody. The arrested man is a twenty-one-year-old Swiss national. Why the young man committed the acts remains unclear so far. Investigators are working to clarify the background.

The competent public prosecutor's office is conducting the proceedings and is asking witnesses who noticed the incident to come forward.
