A man in Biel BE was attacked in succession by two different groups of perpetrators during the night. Cantonal police are seeking witnesses.

On the night of Wednesday, shortly after 02:10, two acts of violence against the same person occurred at the roundabout on Silbergasse in Biel. The Bern Cantonal Police announced on Thursday that a man was first approached by a group of five men and then beaten.
The victim fled to a nearby pavement, but was then attacked again. Two other men continued the assault. One is said to have swung a chair against the man's head, while the other continued hitting him with his fists. Afterwards, all the attackers escaped unidentified.
Bystanders helped the injured man, treated him and called for emergency services. An ambulance took him to hospital.
The investigation is being conducted by the Cantonal Police under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office Berner Jura-Seeland. Witnesses are asked to come forward.
