Federal Court upholds 18-year sentence for mother convicted of murder in Könizbergwald

Switzerland's Federal Court has dismissed the appeal of a convicted mother in full. The woman had been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for the murder of her daughter in the Könizbergwald.

The judges found the defendant guilty. Evidence included DNA traces and testimony from a twelve-year-old witness. A total of 16 pieces of circumstantial evidence were presented against the mother, which in the court's view left no doubt about her culpability.

The Federal Court's ruling thus confirms the decision of the lower courts. The woman must now serve the 18-year prison sentence.
