As sg.ch reports, a private security service reported a burglary at a shop in the town centre of Rapperswil-Jona in the night of Tuesday to Wednesday (13 May 2026) shortly before 1 a.m. An employee alerted the emergency and operations control centre in St. Gallen, whereupon several patrols of the St. Gallen cantonal police deployed.
A 26-year-old Algerian was arrested whilst still in the building. The man had forced open an entrance door to gain access. Inside, he damaged a photo booth. The resulting material damage amounts to approximately 2000 francs.
In addition to several patrols, a drone and a service dog of the St. Gallen cantonal police were deployed. Patrols from the cantonal police of Schwyz and Zurich also supported the operation. The 26-year-old is being reported to the prosecutor's office of the Canton of St. Gallen.
