Police launch investigation into sexual offences in Bern squatter scene
Following sexual offences at a wagon site in the Bern squatter scene, Bern cantonal police have launched an investigation. According to derbund.ch, an alleged perpetrator has been identified and questioned.
The first incidents occurred in April 2025. A left-wing autonomous collective subsequently attempted to process the assaults internally and without involving police – this process failed. A few months later, a rape occurred. The accused person was subsequently excluded from the wagon site.
The collective then decided to make the incidents public. In mid-October, a corresponding report was filed with Bern cantonal police. The authorities launched an investigation of their own accord.
In early October, derbund.ch and "NZZ am Sonntag" first reported on the alleged sexual offences as well as the collective's failed attempt at internal processing. The investigation is ongoing. Police are seeking individuals who can provide information about the incidents.
