The St. Gallen cantonal police have arrested two men who allegedly attempted to break into parked vehicles during the night into Monday.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on the night into Monday, 8 September 2025, the St. Gallen emergency call centre received a report. A third person had observed two men attempting to break into parked cars on Rosenstrasse in St. Margrethen.
The responding patrols from the cantonal police spotted two people in the area whose external appearance matched the description. The officers arrested both of them.
The arrested individuals are a 14-year-old and a 20-year-old Austrian. At the time of their arrest, they were in possession of stolen bicycles and further suspected stolen goods.
