French burglary gang strikes Valais gun shop – seven arrests
Several young French nationals broke into a firearms shop in Sion during the night to Saturday. The suspects fled with stolen items in a car registered with French licence plates.
Valais cantonal police immediately launched a major search operation. Various police units worked closely together. Border guards, drones, a dog unit and a Super Puma helicopter from the Swiss army were also deployed. During the course of the night, officers were able to apprehend seven suspects. The arrested individuals are between 16 and 31 years old and come from France.
Investigations show that the series of break-ins affects not only gun shops but also vehicle garages. The authorities have identified 360 people as "soldiers" in connection with this criminal structure – this is how members are referred to within the organisation.
