On Wednesday afternoon, the St.Gallen cantonal police succeeded in arresting a 26-year-old woman in a car park in Rheineck SG. She is suspected of having committed several shop thefts from electronics retailers in Schaffhausen together with a 28-year-old man.
At around 13:45, information was received at the operations centre in Schaffhausen that the two suspects had been spotted in a shopping centre in the city. They subsequently fled in a car. Based on the vehicle description and number plate, the car was stopped in Rheineck the same day.
During the check, the woman was still in the vehicle. Her suspected accomplice was no longer present. Investigators believe that the duo is responsible for further thefts from department stores across Switzerland. The damage amounts to more than 3,000 francs, mainly from stolen razor heads.
The Schaffhausen public prosecutor's office has initiated criminal proceedings. Schaffhausen police are working closely with the St.Gallen cantonal police in their investigations. Witnesses who have observed similar incidents are asked to contact the police.
