Two incidents involving weapons in St. Gallen within a few hours
St. Gallen city police stopped two people with weapons on Friday — first a woman with a kitchen knife at the main railway station, later a man with a machete in Kantipark. According to 20 Minuten, both were admitted to a clinic. No one was injured in either of the two incidents.
On Friday afternoon, witnesses reported a screaming woman who was at St. Gallen's main railway station carrying a kitchen knife. Security staff detained her before police arrived. The 46-year-old North Macedonian woman appeared confused and was admitted to a clinic following medical examination.
Shortly after 4 p.m., a second incident followed: St. Gallen city police received a report that a man was attacking people with a machete in Kantipark. Several patrol cars were dispatched. On site, passers-by directed emergency personnel to a man who was behaving very aggressively — he was no longer carrying a machete at that time. Due to his behaviour and the unclear situation, he was placed in handcuffs.
A short time later, emergency personnel found the machete in nearby bushes. The 51-year-old Cuban was brought to the police station, medically examined and subsequently also admitted to a clinic. Police shared the details on Saturday in a statement.
