New criminal investigation opened against Vaud State Councillor Dittli
Eric Kaltenrieder, the Attorney General of the Canton of Vaud, has opened a second criminal investigation against State Councillor Valérie Dittli. The office of the Grand Council approved the procedure on the basis of the Meylan report.
New criminal investigation opened against Vaud State Councillor Dittli
The office of the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud has approved a new criminal investigation against State Councillor Valérie Dittli. Attorney General Eric Kaltenrieder had requested the waiver of immunity of the centrist government councillor in order to open a further investigation. The decision came approximately two months after publication of the expert opinion of Jean-François Meylan.
In a media statement, it was stated that the office had decided to open proceedings on the basis of the Attorney General's positive expert opinion and Dittli's stance, in that she had not opposed an investigation. This was reported by Le Temps.
This is already the second ongoing criminal proceedings against the minister. Back in May 2025, Kaltenrieder had reviewed the Studer report concerning the annulment of tax assessments. In September 2025, following approval by the Grand Council, an investigation was opened on suspicion of abuse of office. A few days later, the public prosecutor's office discontinued part of the dossier – the allegations of breach of official secrecy – as the statutory requirements did not appear to be met.
