One woman killed, five wounded in shooting at Aarau rave party

A 22-year-old Italian national was shot dead and five others wounded after a gunman opened fire at a rave party in Aarau, Switzerland, Google News IE — Crime (en) reports, citing local police and Italy's Foreign Ministry.
The shooting took place before 3:00 a.m. local time during the annual Aarauer Rave at the Schachen race course, where a techno party was being held, according to Swiss newspaper Blick. The five injured, aged between 24 and 27, included some who were seriously wounded.
Swiss police launched a manhunt for at least one suspect following the attack. "For the moment, we have no reliable information regarding the perpetrators. We do not know whether it is a single person or several, nor whether they fled in a vehicle or on foot," police spokesman Bernhard Graser told reporters.
Graser added that certain elements suggested the suspect or suspects may have already left the area, but that a significant police presence remained deployed in the region. Officers urged the public to stay away from the scene and called on anyone with videos or images of the incident to come forward.
Police in Freiburg, in neighbouring Germany, also joined the manhunt, the German news agency dpa reported.
Aarau, a city of around 22,300 residents located approximately 40 kilometres west of Zürich, rarely sees gun violence despite relatively widespread firearm ownership across Switzerland.
Italy's Foreign Ministry confirmed the victim's nationality in an official statement.
