The Bernese cantonal police conducted a focused nine-day operation against pickpocketing and confidence fraud in the Lauterbrunnen region and on the Jungfraujoch. According to a statement released by the authorities, 15 people were detained during the course of this operation.
Several of those checked were subsequently taken into provisional custody. After evidence had been secured, these individuals were expelled from the canton of Bern, the police stated.
The cantonal police provided no further details on the operation in their statement. It remained unclear whether a repeat or similar operation would take place in the near future.
