The Zurich Cantonal Police arrested a man in Regensdorf early on Sunday morning. Residents heard multiple shots in a newly built residential quarter near the railway station at around 4.15 a.m. and alerted police.
Emergency personnel deployed immediately and also heard the shots. They located the flat of the alleged shooter and arrested the man on the spot. In addition to police negotiators, the specialist unit Diamant was also deployed.
According to a spokeswoman for the Zurich Cantonal Police quoted by Keystone-SDA, the operation has since ended. Further details regarding the background and motive for the incident were initially not disclosed. There were no injuries.
