Staged manhunt for pyro perpetrators from Wankdorf Cup Final
As bernerzeitung.ch reports, Cantonal Police Bern are searching for four men who are alleged to have set off pyrotechnics and firecrackers during the 2025 Cup Final at Wankdorf Stadium. The public prosecutor's office has ordered a multi-stage public appeal for information in connection with the case.
The four suspects are alleged to have ignited the items in the middle of crowds and thereby accepted the risk of causing serious injury to bystanders. According to police, extensive investigations have identified the wanted men, but identification has not yet been possible.
In a first step, Cantonal Police Bern will publish pixelated images of the four men on their website on Thursday, 10 September. If identification is not achieved, uncensored photographs of the wanted men will follow on 17 September.
Should the men come forward themselves before one of the stated dates or be identified through other means, police will refrain from publishing the images.
Cantonal Police Bern uses the instrument of public appeals occasionally. Most recently, they resorted to it in March 2026, when around 30 people were sought who are alleged to have committed offences at an unauthorised demonstration.
