As Google News CH – Crime (de) reports, dangerous scenes unfolded on Hulftegg in the canton of St Gallen on Saturday afternoon: at around 17:00, multiple reports came in to the emergency dispatch centre St Gallen that a vehicle was dangerously overtaking and braking in front of other cars.
When a police patrol attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver ignored the stop signal and fled in the direction of Tösstal. The cantonal police forces of St Gallen and Zurich immediately launched a search. A short time later, the vehicle was found parked – the two occupants, a 40-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man, were already standing outside the vehicle.
Both are suspected of alternately driving the vehicle whilst unfit to drive. The 45-year-old is additionally accused of driving despite having had his driving licence withdrawn.
The woman followed the officers' instructions without resistance. The man, however, behaved threateningly and approached the policeman and policewoman. Thereupon the officers deployed a stabilisation device – known colloquially as a "Taser". The device fires two projectiles with wires that temporarily incapacitate a person through electrical shocks.
Despite this, the 45-year-old continued to resist during the subsequent arrest and was slightly injured in the process. He received medical care but remained uncooperative at the hospital as well. Both individuals were arrested and the vehicle was secured.
Several patrols from the cantonal police St Gallen, one patrol from the cantonal police Zurich, an ambulance and a duty doctor were deployed.
