Shooting victim at Aarau rave: "He was chasing me" – Fabrizio (31) narrowly survived

In the night leading into Sunday, a rave at Aarau's Schachen ended in a shooting: 22-year-old Maria S. was killed, and five other people were injured, some seriously. One of them is Aargau resident Fabrizio Grande, who was hit by a bullet in the hip. According to Blick, the 31-year-old told Tele M1 how he perceived the shooter at close range.
"I keep having the same thing in my head," says Grande. "How he turned towards me, because I wasn't in the crowd. He was obviously chasing me. It's just crazy that someone stands there with an AK and simply wants to kill you."
Grande shouted something at the gunman – "You poor wretch, stop it now" – and then went behind a car. There he was given initial medical care by two people he did not know. "They told me I was bleeding heavily," he recounts. "I didn't even realise that I had actually been shot." It was only when he saw his bloody shoe and his bloody trouser leg that he realised what had actually happened.
That he is still alive, Grande himself calls luck. "One shot was fired, twice the weapon just misfired," he says. "Malfunction, guardian angel, God knows what it was. But really he should have hit me."
Grande is convinced there was only one gunman – and that he was militarily trained. "He knew how to hold a rifle. He knew how to move and aim with a rifle," says Grande. "And he really waited until the music stopped and the crowd came out of the exit. Then he started shooting."
On Monday, the Aargau cantonal police announced the arrest of a 43-year-old Swiss national who is under strong suspicion of the offence. Police have announced a press conference for Wednesday at 2 p.m. Until then, no further information would be released, it was stated.
