In the municipality of Wallisellen in Zurich canton, the abduction of a 46-year-old citizen of the Slovak Republic took place on Monday evening. A group of four men attacked him directly on the street, forced him into a car and took him to an unknown location.
According to information released by Zurich cantonal police on Thursday, the victim spent several hours locked in a stranger's flat. The situation came to a head at around two in the morning, when the police received an urgent emergency call that a man was being held against his will in a flat in Winterthur.
Special units immediately carried out a raid on the specified flat. In addition to the frightened Slovak, officers also found two of the suspected kidnappers – two 42-year-old men from Montenegro. The police officers overpowered and arrested them on the spot.
Thanks to intensive operational investigations, Swiss police managed in the following hours to also track down and arrest the two remaining accomplices. They are two further citizens of Montenegro aged 30 and 35.
All four detainees were handed over to the public prosecutor's office following questioning, which immediately filed a detention request against them. The exact course of events and the motive for why the group targeted this particular 46-year-old Slovak are the subject of ongoing investigations. Swiss authorities are not commenting on further details for the time being.
