Forgery charges: New accusation against bar "Le Constellation" co-operator in Valais

New allegations against bar operator following fire disaster in Valais
The Valais Public Prosecutor's Office has widened the allegations against Jessica Moretti. According to Blick, the co-operator of the bar "Le Constellation" is now additionally accused of forgery.
Specifically, Moretti is said to have forged an invoice for the purchase of soundproofing foam. That flammable ceiling foam caught fire on New Year's Eve 2023. The disaster resulted in 41 deaths, with a further 115 injured.
Moretti's husband Jacques initially claimed to have purchased the foam at a hardware store in Valais. In February, he handed police an alleged invoice from an east German supplier. The French newspaper "Libération" reported on Thursday that Jacques Moretti had told them he had now found "the correct invoice"—which he intended to hand over to the authorities soon, without providing further details.
The Public Prosecutor's Office is already investigating the couple for manslaughter through negligence, assault, and causing arson. The operators are being questioned for the first time "confrontationally". Even after several interviews, numerous points remain disputed—including the origin of the foam, the escape routes, and assets in France.
Jacques Moretti, cited by the NZZ, dismissed figures as "false", but provided no figures of his own. He and his wife have repeatedly contradicted themselves in the interviews.
