Wetzikon resident threatens police officers with machete during night-time stop
Early this year, shortly after midnight, five officers from the regional and cantonal police stood outside a man's apartment door in Wetzikon ZH. They were there following a noise complaint. When the resident opened the door, he remained at some distance and held a large chopping axe at the ready.
According to a penal order from the responsible public prosecutor's office, the man carried such a tool when encountering the officers. Such a device is typically used as a garden tool for cutting thick branches and shrubs.
The incident in Wetzikon was not an isolated case. During two night-time police operations, the resident of the Zurich Oberland behaved in such a threatening manner towards the law enforcement officers that he now must undergo criminal proceedings.
The responsible authority issued a final judgment against the man in an expedited procedure. Details concerning the concrete amount of the sanction were not disclosed in the notification.
