The extremism and violence prevention office in Winterthur alerted authorities significantly more frequently in the past year. Thirteen reports containing indications of possible violence or self-endangerment were submitted to police.

In the Canton of Zurich, the municipal facility for the prevention of radicalisation and violence has registered a marked increase in alarm reports. Whilst only three incidents were forwarded to the city police in the previous year, this number rose to 13 in the reporting period.
The annual report was published on Monday. In it, the responsible city councillor Galladé (SP) acknowledges that even comprehensive prevention work cannot avert every serious incident. He specifically mentions the bloodshed on 28 May, which has unsettled many citizens.
The vast majority of reported incidents involve minors who announced violent acts in their statements or behaviour. One documented case concerns a young student with a history of psychiatric illness who repeatedly announced wanting to "show everyone what he thought of the school" at a school celebration.
Another focus of prevention work lies on the so-called "manosphere" – online movements that propagate a problematic image of men and often promote misogynistic world views. In educational institutions this manifests itself through growing lack of respect towards female teaching staff.
