Woman shot dead at rave in Aarau, Switzerland — five hospitalised, suspect at large

A 22-year-old woman was shot dead and five others were hospitalised after a shooting broke out at a rave in the Swiss canton of Aarau, TheJournal.ie reports. Police were alerted to the incident at around 2.30am, at the horse racing track in Aarau's Schachen district.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Four men and one woman, aged between 24 and 27, were taken to hospital with injuries described by police as "ranging from minor to severe".
The event targeted was the "Aarau Rave VOL. 7", held at the Schachen horse racing track, located around 46km west of Zurich. Swiss daily Blick reported that rave-goers initially mistook the gunshots for fireworks, until someone shouted for everyone to get down. According to the newspaper, the shooting took place shortly after the rave had ended.
"The manhunt for the unknown perpetrator is under way," police said in a statement posted on X. "Possible motives as well as the exact circumstances of the crime are still unclear."
A large perimeter has been cordoned off around the horse racing track, the town's swimming pool, and a nearby sports field. Police asked the public to stay away from the area and confirmed a heightened presence on the ground "as a precaution".
Investigators called on witnesses who captured video or photographs of the incident to come forward and share the material with police.
