The Zurich cantonal police have cleared up or dealt with several serious offences in the past week, including false imprisonment in Wallisellen and a shooting exchange in Bülach.
Man abducted in Wallisellen
On Monday evening, a man in Wallisellen fell victim to four people he knew. The group threatened him and forced him to get into a car with them. They then transported the victim to Winterthur. In the night of Tuesday, police received information at around 2 a.m. that a man was being held against his will in a flat in Winterthur. Officers from Winterthur city police freed the victim from the situation. The responsible public prosecutor's office and the Zurich cantonal police are now conducting investigations into the background, the perpetrators and the exact sequence of events. The search for the suspects is ongoing.
Gunfight in Bülach
On late Tuesday evening, a confrontation took place in Bülach between several individuals in which at least one firearm was used. According to information available so far, all those involved remained uninjured. The parties were present in several vehicles. In the area of Schaffhauser and Winterthurerstrasse, officers found two cars and several empty shell casings. Specialists from the Zurich Forensic Institute continue to secure evidence at the crime scene. The public prosecutor's office and cantonal police are investigating the perpetrators, the motive and the exact course of events. The search is ongoing.
Residential fire in Zurich District 4
Also on Monday evening, a fire broke out in a flat on Kochstrasse in District 4. The fire brigade had to evacuate several residents from the building. Some of those rescued were taken to hospital for further treatment. The alarm was raised shortly before 17:30. The emergency services brought the flames under control quickly after the building had been evacuated. Nine people were treated on site by paramedics. Five of them had to be taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation poisoning. Several dozen tenants temporarily lost their homes. City police are assisting those affected in finding emergency accommodation. The cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated.
