Emotional farewell following the murder of Martín Pérez in the Metropolitan Region

The body of Martín Pérez, a 19-year-old, was found beside a restaurant in the commune of Colina, amid a site full of rubble. According to biobiochile.cl, both the Prosecutor's Office and Carabineros confirmed the discovery following the kidnapping and homicide that generated consternation in the Metropolitan Region.

The proceedings established that Pérez had voluntarily gone to Estación Central, where he boarded a vehicle after being deceived. From there he was transported to Quinta Normal, where individuals held him in captivity, as detailed by the acting Metropolitan ECOH chief prosecutor, Pablo Sabaj.

At least five people are detained in connection with the case. During Saturday, two of the accused were presented before the court, an instance in which prosecutor Sabaj stated that both "directly participated in the kidnapping with homicide". The magistrate also indicated that all the accused are persons of similar ages to each other. The court confirmed the extension of the detention control until Monday, the date on which the two already formally charged will be presented together with a third accused from 13:00 hours.

"We will bring justice for you"

Martín Pérez's partner published on TikTok an extensive farewell message that circulated widely on social media.

"I swear we will bring justice for you, my love. You left me dead inside, my darling", she wrote in a story on the platform.

The full text of the farewell expressed: "I will always carry you in my heart. You left such a big mark on me that you will always be the love of my life, the one I wanted to start a family with and grow old together with. You were very strong and I will always be proud of the man I had by my side. Until we meet again, just take care of me and protect me always, my love, because your wife will never forget you".

And she added: "You were what I had always wanted in my life; you showed me that you loved me just by changing for me. I miss your kisses, your hugs, your crazy moments, your anger, your childish side that you showed me. You are what I love most in this life. Just fly high and guide me in my life".

Family accuses PDI delays and threats from foreigners

An aunt of the victim, whose identity is kept confidential, recounted the difficulties she faced when trying to file a complaint with the Investigation Police (PDI). According to her account, the institution did not give her immediate attention, citing an excessive caseload.

"I went with videos, I told them: 'My nephew was just kidnapped. Here are the videos, they are asking me for a sum of money, please help me'. And the PDI tells me: 'No, I cannot help you because I have too many cases on top of me'. I leave, I withdraw and I tell them: 'What are you waiting for, my nephew is at risk, they are going to kill him?'", the woman recounted.

The same family member indicated that during the hours of anguish they also received threats from foreign individuals, although she did not provide further details in that regard.
