A fire broke out early this morning in a parked car in Nicosia. The incident was reported at approximately 2:40 am. The vehicle belonged to a 35-year-old man and was parked in front of his two-storey residence.
Firefighters and police arrived quickly at the scene and brought the fire under control. Despite their efforts, the car was completely destroyed.
Initial indications suggest that the fire may have resulted from wilful action. The preliminary examinations carried out at the scene are directing the investigation in that direction.
Further examinations will be conducted later today. The police department of the capital has taken over the investigation.
