Investigators in the Olomouc region have proposed charging a juvenile offender with last year's murder in Zábřeh in the Šumperk region. The accused was fifteen years old at the time of the offence.
According to the police file, the boy brutally attacked an older man who lived in a local hostel last year. The attacker selected the victim at random – he did not know him and had no dispute with him. The motive was allegedly to vent aggression and anger on someone.
The investigation showed that it was a targeted attack with fatal consequences. The injured man succumbed to the attack.
Given the offender's age at the time of the offence, the case will be heard under the juvenile criminal justice proceedings. For murder, juveniles face half the sentence of adults, namely up to fifteen years in prison.
