Fifteen-year-old boy faces murder charge in Zábřeh
The case of a man's death in the centre of Zábřeh in the Šumperk district is heading to court. Detectives have submitted a case file to the state prosecutor requesting that a fifteen-year-old juvenile be prosecuted.
The victim's body was found in October 2025 by a passer-by walking a dog near a residential building on Československé armády street. A forensic autopsy established that the man died a violent death. The security services apprehended the suspect on the same day, within thirteen hours of the body being discovered. The young man confessed.
According to a statement by Jan Lisický, head of the regional criminal investigation department, it was a randomly selected person. The juvenile allegedly struck the head, with injuries that had devastating consequences. According to investigators, the motive for the attack was venting anger and aggression.
Neither party knew each other. A judge decided to place the accused in detention. The decision to remand him to custody was justified by the risk that the young man might evade criminal proceedings, influence witnesses, or commit further unlawful acts. If found guilty, he faces up to ten years imprisonment given his young age, owing to the particularly brutal manner of commission.
The act prompted concerns among local residents. Mayor František John informed the public that the city is taking all available steps to ensure safety and that the perpetrator is in state custody.
