A twenty-two-year-old man drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Volkswagen vehicle. A fifteen-year-old girl died, and seven other people were injured.

Criminal investigators in Olomouc have charged a twenty-two-year-old driver with manslaughter and grievous bodily harm through negligence. If convicted, he faces two to eight years in prison. Police spokesman Jaroslav Herzán informed about the case.
The accident occurred on 8 November last year in the evening near the village of Křelov-Břuchotín. The young man behind the wheel of a BMW vehicle drifted into the opposite lane, where he collided head-on with a Volkswagen vehicle. The Volkswagen was driven by a twenty-one-year-old driver.
The BMW carried a total of four other people – men aged 22 and 21, and two fifteen-year-old girls. The Volkswagen was occupied by a fifty-year-old man and a nineteen-year-old young man.
A total of eight people sustained injuries, four of them seriously. Six rescue teams responded to the scene. Firefighters had to use equipment to free four people trapped in the vehicles. Medical personnel transported seven injured people to hospital, with three seriously injured patients placed on mechanical ventilation. Others sustained minor injuries including fractures, lacerations, and concussion.
One of the fifteen-year-old passengers succumbed to her injuries. Police ruled out alcohol in both drivers. Traffic on road II/635 was interrupted for several hours.
