Drone attack Leipzig: Federal Police pursue suspect with AI-generated image
The Federal Criminal Police Office and the Federal Prosecutor's Office are conducting a public manhunt with posters and an AI-generated photograph for a third suspect in the case of the drone attack on Leipzig/Halle airport. According to tagesspiegel.de, the public appeal was launched on Friday. The image shows a person on an e-bike in black clothing.
The attack took place in early August at the airport, a central hub for military aid supplies to Ukraine. Investigators discovered a drone loaded with explosives near Ukrainian cargo aircraft. Two suspects have already been identified; the unknown third person "could also be connected to the drone attack", the Federal Criminal Police Office stated.
The federal government held Russia responsible for the attack in early September and announced punitive measures. Moscow rejected the allegations. The Federal Prosecutor's Office took over the investigation. Witness information is requested from the public and should be reported to the Federal Criminal Police Office.
