According to n-tv.de, police near Hannover arrested a 26-year-old from Meppen after he fled from a police patrol in a stolen sports car. The pursuit ended on Wednesday evening with a traffic accident on motorway 2.
The police officers wanted to stop the driver at the level of the Hannover-Bothfeld junction. The man ignored the stop signals and continued driving. Approximately one and a half kilometres further, a collision occurred: the sports car changed from the left lane to the middle lane and made contact with the vehicle of a 29-year-old female driver. She veered off the road and overturned.
The 26-year-old also lost control of his vehicle, skidded and collided with several crash barriers. The sports car came to a stop on the hard shoulder. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. The driver of the sports car initially hid in the grassed area of the motorway, but later surrendered without resistance. Police closed the A2 towards Dortmund until shortly before midnight for recovery and cleaning.
