The Stuttgart regional court has sentenced a 32-year-old to life imprisonment for the murder of his former partner. According to sueddeutsche.de, the man killed the 31-year-old woman in January out of jealousy in a nurses' residence. The presiding judge stated: "We are firmly convinced that you are the perpetrator here."

The victim was married to the stateless man according to Islamic law. The couple had known each other since August 2025, with the relationship marked by conflict. A few days before the deed, the woman had separated from her partner following an argument. On the day of the verdict announcement, it would have been their first wedding anniversary.

The judge explicitly described the deed as femicide: "A woman lost her life violently because a man killed her out of jealousy or wounded male vanity." The jurist accused the defendant of not accepting the woman's right to self-determination. The sentencing chamber thus followed the prosecution's charges; the man's defence counsel had demanded acquittal. The verdict is not yet final.

The case is already the second murder of a nurse at the same Stuttgart residence within three years. Femicides are defined as killings of women on the basis of their gender — because perpetrators regard women as unequal or wish to control them. The most common form is killing by a current or former partner.
