Detention in SDN: suspect captured in fatal shooting of 31-year-old man
According to ultimasnoticias.com.do, the Public Prosecutor arrested Félix Antonio Jiménez, known as "Félix", on Monday afternoon, after he was actively sought for his involvement in the homicide of Santo Heredia Mañón—also identified as "Telique" or "José Enrique"—31 years old, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Norte, province of Santo Domingo.
Prosecutor Andry De Los Santos, director of the Unit for the Capture of Fugitives, Rebels and Convicted Persons (Ucaprec), executed the arrest warrant after Jiménez presented himself accompanied by his lawyer at the offices of that department. The warrant was authorised by judge Leomar Cruz Quezada, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Service of Santo Domingo Este, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's office in charge of the investigation.
According to the authorities, Jiménez acted together with other individuals—who are also being pursued—to kill Heredia Mañón, who lived on San Antonio Street in the municipality of La Victoria, in Santo Domingo Norte. The body removal report no. 0111717 establishes that the victim died as a result of a gunshot wound to the left side.
The accused is being prosecuted for alleged violations of articles 265, 266, 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as articles 43-B, 66 and 67 of Law 631-16 on Arms, Ammunition and Related Materials, to the detriment of Heredia Mañón and the Dominican State.
In the coming hours, the Public Prosecutor will request a coercive measure against Jiménez before the Permanent Service Court of Santo Domingo Este. The investigations remain open whilst authorities pursue the other individuals involved in the crime.
