Death of "Vaguito": body buried in Nagua points to drug sales point
According to elnacional.com.do, the National Police announced on Wednesday that they are investigating the death of Anderson Santos, alias "Vaguito", whose body was found buried in the Pescadero sector in Nagua after several days of disappearance.
The spokesperson for the institution, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, explained at a press conference that the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) identified Brayan Cius as the last person who would have accompanied Santos. Cius had been previously arrested by the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) in possession of controlled substances.
Statement of the detainee
In preliminary statements, Cius indicated that both he and Santos worked at a drug sales point operated by a man known only as "Carlos". According to his account, around 10:00 in the morning a discussion occurred over a shortage of RD$200 in merchandise, a situation that had repeated on previous occasions.
Cius stated that "Carlos" manipulated a firearm and shot Santos, who died as a result of the wound.
The concealment of the body
After the shooting, Cius declared that he and "Carlos" hid the body near the sales point, covering it with lilacs while waiting for dawn. They then transported the body by motorcycle approximately two kilometres from the location, dug a hole and buried it to prevent its discovery.
The discovery of the body triggered further proceedings to establish the circumstances of the incident and determine responsibilities. The National Police are coordinating with the Public Ministry to bring those responsible to the attention of the justice system.
