Oliver Rojas Núñez, alias "Chuky" or "El Menor", was shot dead on Wednesday in the Progreso neighbourhood, La Herradura sector of Santiago, after opening fire on agents of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dicrim), according to n.com.do.

The incident occurred during a police operation to execute an outstanding arrest warrant against Rojas Núñez. Upon detecting the presence of uniformed officers, the individual opened fire on them. The agents returned fire and the suspect was wounded. He died subsequently whilst receiving medical attention. At the scene, a pistol was seized which, according to the authorities, was the weapon used in the attack.

Rojas Núñez was wanted under arrest warrant number 2026-AJ0081076 for allegedly having beaten and seriously injured his romantic partner in September 2026, leaving her in critical condition.

The authorities also identified him as a suspected participant in a shooting against a police patrol that occurred on 28 January 2026 in the La Laguna sector, Puerto Plata. In that incident, one of the projectiles struck a nearby residence. Rojas Núñez remained at large in relation to that case.
