Four arrested for jewellery shop robbery in Santiago; police recover money and weapons
The National Police detained four suspected armed robbers who stole from a jewellery shop on San Luis street in Santiago. Cash, silver jewellery and an illegal firearm were recovered.

The National Police arrested four men on Monday afternoon, identified as suspected perpetrators of a robbery at a jewellery shop in downtown Santiago, according to information released by the institution in a press statement collected by listindiario.com.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m. at an establishment located on San Luis street. According to the preliminary report, four armed individuals burst into the shop and robbed employees of cash and jewellery, then fled in a grey Honda CR-V sports utility vehicle.
After receiving the alert, police activated a search operation and circulated descriptions of the vehicle and its occupants to units deployed at various points throughout the city. The pursuit concluded minutes later on Avenida Estrella Sadhalá, where officers intercepted the vehicle and arrested its four occupants.
The detained individuals were identified as Marcos José García de la Cruz, Andy José Castillo Jiménez, Delvinson Luis Restituyo Mejía and Heber Isaac Burgos García.
During the operation, authorities seized RD$36,150 in cash, two United States dollars, 4,895 grammes of silver, four silver earrings, four mobile telephones, gloves, balaclavas and a firearm without legal documentation carrying four rounds, a weapon that is believed to have been used during the robbery.
The National Police indicated that the money, jewellery, vehicle and other evidence will be forwarded to the Public Ministry as part of the judicial process, whilst investigations continue for the complete clarification of the case.
